forty-two

A reason to remember what we say to kids really matters.  A message from a parent today thanking teachers for encouraging her son.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."  (Ephesians 4:29)

forty = update on bucket list

My new and updated bucket list (short term - within the next 2 years).

  1. Continue working on Macy's baby book and finish it this summer (cross my fingers, my mom is retired now so she should be able to help me).
  2. Get caught up on Jeff's snapfish/blurb albums (I probably need internet at home for this, so I'm not sure how that is going to work).
  3. Continue doing more crafts with my children (I have lots of ideas from all the blogs I read).
  4. Lose 20 more pounds.
  5. Take a family vacation.
  6. Run in a 10K race (I ran 8 miles last summer, just not in a race)
  7. Take my kids to Disney Land.
  8. Do something to make my yard more fun.  Any ideas?

It's fall here...would you like to know how I know?  My Dad told me, "Grandpa Louis always used to say, 'You know it's fall when the wind blows over the stubble.'"

I'm in graduate school right now and every once in awhile I come across a quote that I would like to remember.

The primary function of a teacher as a leader is to "inspire others to do think that they might otherwise not do and encourage others to go in directs they might not otherwise pursue."   P. Schlechty
